Over the last twelve months, I have been exploring “Light in the Landscape” the effect of light on the land, water and in the sky.
I am totally engrossed intellectually and emotionally challenged each time I create in paint or pastels from the initial inspiration to the actual physical making of marks and my development of the composition, form, colours and light.
These paintings are an emotional journey that is always a part of me for long after the work has been sold or put away in the cupboard unframed.
Painting is a part of my soul.
All through life, the new sights of Nature.
Made me rejoice like a child.
– Marie Curie 1934
I am a realist painter, My inspiration comes from the nature and the world around me. It may be a human figure or the soft light on a deeply lined face, or flowers, I love the shape and smell of a freshly opened rose. I find inspiration in animals of all description, from loved pets to the wild and free…… birds of the air and water, The weather, clouds, colours of the seasons……. and I find inspiration in the ever changing landscape. “If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere”– Vincent Van Gogh
I have drawn and been ‘into’ art since I was a small child, and I practice the skills of drawing or painting every day. My favourite medium is Pastels, but I also create art with Watercolour and Acrylics, and draw with Pencil, Charcoal, also Pen ink and Wash. I rarely paint without music playing in the background, and I am blessed to have a home studio, where I paint and teach others the joys of pastels. I am always totally engrossed, intellectually and emotionally challenged every time I paint.
The actual physical making of marks, my development of the composition, form, colour and light are an emotional journey that is always a part of me, long after the work has been sold or put away in the cupboard unframed …. painting is a part of my soul.I want to teach other people, to see, to experience and to enjoy the power of an artist’s palette ….To see the stunning beauty of the world around us…
