It was July 2011 when Jaine attended a 2-day workshop in soft pastels and fell in love. It was then that the world of art opened up for her, she was addicted.
Jaine demonstrated artistic ability as a young art student but life (as it does) got in the way. During career years and motherhood, fabric and thread art became her expressive outlet where design, colour, and creativity were an extension of her hands. That was until early retirement presented Jaine with the opportunity to reconnect with her visual arts ability and since 2013 she has been working towards becoming a full-time artist.
Jaine finds it is the immediacy and tactility of Soft Pastels that opens up spontaneity further extending her creativity which also extends into other forms of art in most genre.
Her pastel paintings are distinguished by her competent application of pastel and composition, creating striking visual appeal in her own unique painterly realist style.
Jaine readily undertakes commissions to provide clients with a piece of fine art that is very individual, an expression of their style and of what inspires them, to proudly hang in their home.
Her Awarded and Commissioned art can be found hanging in Private Collections within Australia.

Every painting is a portrait of life through an artist’s expression of what they see.
In portraiture, I love to capture the essence of the sitter, through the windows to their soul, portraying the glint in their eye, that distinctive look, the cheeky grin and their life’s journey ‘time in lines’.
My interpretation of nature and exploring broad subjects that inspires me to further develop my style producing awarded pieces of art.
It is the story you tell, what you leave out, not what you put in, that creates the visual journey.
I produce styles from Realism to Spontaneous Realism, Impressionistic through to Abstract.
The end result depends on the subject matter, the media used and by what has inspired the journey. Some times, what comes and off the end of my hands/brush is totally spontaneous and a surprise even to me.
I paint in Soft Pastels, Charcoal, Pen & Wash/ Acrylic/ Mixed Media.
