It was July 2011 when Jaine attended a 2-day workshop in soft pastels and fell in love. It was then that the world of art opened up for her, she was addicted.
Jaine demonstrated artistic ability as a young art student but life (as it does) got in the way. During career years and motherhood, fabric and thread art became her expressive outlet where design, colour, and creativity were an extension of her hands. That was until early retirement presented Jaine with the opportunity to reconnect with her visual arts ability and since 2013 she has been working towards becoming a full-time artist.
Jaine finds it is the immediacy and tactility of Soft Pastels that opens up spontaneity further extending her creativity which also extends into other forms of art in most genre.
Her pastel paintings are distinguished by her competent application of pastel and composition, creating striking visual appeal in her own unique painterly realist style.
Jaine readily undertakes commissions to provide clients with a piece of fine art that is very individual, an expression of their style and of what inspires them, to proudly hang in their home.
Her Awarded and Commissioned art can be found hanging in Private Collections within Australia.

I am a realist painter, My inspiration comes from the nature and the world around me. It may be a human figure or the soft light on a deeply lined face, or flowers, I love the shape and smell of a freshly opened rose. I find inspiration in animals of all description, from loved pets to the wild and free…… birds of the air and water, The weather, clouds, colours of the seasons……. and I find inspiration in the ever changing landscape. “If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere”– Vincent Van Gogh
I have drawn and been ‘into’ art since I was a small child, and I practice the skills of drawing or painting every day. My favourite medium is Pastels, but I also create art with Watercolour and Acrylics, and draw with Pencil, Charcoal, also Pen ink and Wash. I rarely paint without music playing in the background, and I am blessed to have a home studio, where I paint and teach others the joys of pastels. I am always totally engrossed, intellectually and emotionally challenged every time I paint.
The actual physical making of marks, my development of the composition, form, colour and light are an emotional journey that is always a part of me, long after the work has been sold or put away in the cupboard unframed …. painting is a part of my soul.I want to teach other people, to see, to experience and to enjoy the power of an artist’s palette ….To see the stunning beauty of the world around us…
