I am a practicing artist and painting teacher. My major interests are painting in Oils and Soft Pastels. I attended Swinburne Art School in Melbourne in the sixties and my early training in traditional drawing and painting and working as graphic artist, all have had an influence on my current style of painting.
I have since studied a Fine Art Degree here at Newcastle University .Although I am versed in most of the main mediums I paint in oils and soft pastels, my work is landscape based.A lot of my influence stems from studying the Australian impressionist painters of the late 1800s early 1900s such as Streeton, Roberts,Condor, and the iconic images which they depicted.
As a painting tutor of 15 years my aim is to engage with students to encourage and establish a climate of continual improvement so that all students, from the very beginner to the more established are satisfied in their ability to express themselves.I currently conduct regular pastel classes and workshops and demonstrations to art groups.
Living here in Newcastle there is always a constant source of excitement and inspiration on the water front with the large container ships and tugboats in the harbour.I exhibit regularly throughout NSW and have won a number of awards for my work.Member of : Pastel Artists of Australia : Australian Society of Marine Artists Society of Artists Newcastle .
