Pastel Society Australia Inc is proudly hosting Australia’s first ever pastel expo! This exciting event is being held over 4 days from Wednesday 12th September to Sunday 16th September 2018 at the Caloundra Event Centre, Sunshine Coast.
There are 4 days of Workshops and Demonstrations with a massive variety of topics catering for all levels of experience. What a wonderful way to meet new friends from all over Australia and learn from a vast array of inspiring tutors. We are very fortunate to have Liz Haywood-Sullivan accept our invitation to be our very special keynote Artist. Liz is the immediate past President of IAPS and is world renown for her works, characterised by her masterful depiction of light especially dramatic, use of colour and graphic compositions.
Workshops will be either full or half day projects. There are at least 15 categories of subjects to be covered even plein air sessions and what a terrific area for the lucky participants in these sessions to gain a true experience of the magnificent Queensland scenery. There will be still lifes, urban landscapes, sea scapes, florals, portraits and the list goes on. There will be a genre for everyone and maybe even new and exciting matter you may have never attempted before like mixed media. For those who are interested but never tried, Pan Pastels will be doing a demonstration and be in the tradeshow too. A full list of tutors, subjects and their activities is on the website www.australianpastelexpo.com.au . Be prepared to be amazed, to learn and enjoy yourself unabashedly with fellow artists!
Evening entertainment includes Liz Haywood-Sullivan doing a demonstration on Friday night and on Saturday night a paint around as 5 master pastellists undertake this round robin approach to a painting. The results are always surprising but often inspiring and sometimes hilarious. There will be a tutor exhibition from some master pastellists to view and perhaps purchase and always admire.
Registration is still open with the following rates:
· PSA member 4 days including all food and drink $650
· Non-PSA member including all food and drink $750
· Day rate including all food and drink $220
· Evening tickets to Liz Haywood-Sullivan demonstration and Paint around on Thursday and Friday night $40 each per person
There will be a tradeshow where you can meet people who are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Some books will be on offer, trial samples from Blue earth and a host of other goodies to sample inspect and compare. Some items will be discounted so be prepared to have a wish list. There will be lots to buy or pre-order with an expo exclusive discount but only for those who are registered.
There is so much to learn and experience over 4 wonderful days and it is coming soon to Australia.
Every month, we will be giving one of our artists just a little more exposure with this Featured Pastelist spot!
This very first entry (Tricia Taylor) was chosen at random, but in future your committee will decide on which artists to place here and will tell you why they were chosen. There will be a link to their personal page and gallery on this site where you can see more of their work.
The theme for our April Set Subject 2019 is a technical excercise : "Lost and Found Edges"
Now you can watch some of our very own Demo Videos! When you open the web page there’ll be a page that says ‘Private’. Just enter the password that was sent to you in your invoice after you paid for your membership and you’ll go to the next page where there are a few videos of our Master Pastellists doing demonstrations. What a wonderful way to see some of our Master Pastellists in action!
