Anne began painting in 1998, as a busy full-time Mum to four children. As her family have grown in independence, she has been able to focus more on her art and paints in both pastel and oil from her home studio in Cooroy, Sunshine Coast, Qld.
Anne has attended classes and workshops with many tutors, including Australians, Max Wilkes, John Wilson, Ross Paterson, Lyn Mellady, Louise Corke, Penelope Gilbert-Ng, Christine Clark, Lyn Diefenbach and Leoni Duff as well as Jack Pardue (USA) and Margaret Evans (Scotland).
Anne is a member of the Pastel Society of Australia and the Royal Qld Arts Society. Anne has commenced public painting demonstrations and teaching workshops in the pastel medium and also has recently begun teaching plein-air painting workshops with fellow artist Tricia Taylor. “I have been told that my paintings possess “soul”, in the sense of an emotional or intellectual energy. With an emotional connection to my subject, I paint in response to this. I delight in the beauty of nature, be it the rugged beauty of the bush or the delicacy of a flower. I paint predominantly with soft pastel, as I enjoy the immediacy and vibrancy of this medium. I enjoy capturing the contrasting variety of colour, texture and form in the landscape and the illuminating power of sunlight.”
